Candidiasis - Natural Help
Chronic fatigue, digestive disturbances, allergies, headaches, thrush and general malaise are just some of the uncomfortable symptoms suffered by someone with candida overgrowth problem.
The common yeast CANDIDA ALBICANS is present in every individual. Normally, the yeast lives harmlessly in the intestinal tract of all humans. It is usually kept under control by other organisms – the friendly bacteria such as ACIDOPHILUS and BIFIDO BACTERIA which also inhabit the gastrointestinal tract.
The most common cause of overgrowth of candida albicans is the use of antibiotics which as a side-effect, kills the good bacteria (e.g. acidophilus) as well as the bad but does not kill fungal such as candida.
As a result, conditions such as thrush, bloating, gas, intestinal cramps, menstrual complaints, depression, irritability, chemical sensitivities and low immune function may develop.
Treatment of candidiasis involves three major steps. First the diet must be free of foods which encourage the overgrowth of the yeast, second the yeast must be killed and third the body’s natural immune system and liver function must be strengthened by changes in the diet and the use of appropriate supplements (see right).
